QRC is a specialist provider of tourism and hospitality management education with campuses in the Bay of Islands and Queenstown.

Opened in 2016, with the strong support of New Zealand Māori Tourism, local Iwi and business community, QRC Tai Tokerau’s aim is to equip students with the skills and experience to be tomorrow’s tourism leaders and entrepreneurs.

Programmes include:

  • Level 6 Diploma in Hospitality Management (21 months – including 9-month internship)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Tourism Operations (18 Weeks)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Hospitality Operations (18 Weeks)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Cookery (18 Weeks)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (34 weeks)

QRC regularly consults with high level industry representatives. Our Industry Advisory Group critiques the relevancy and delivery of our courses and programmes. Members feature including Pania Tyson-Nathan (Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Kahungunu), the CEO of NZ Māori Tourism.

Pathway Options

Upon successful completion of the Diploma in Hospitality Management graduates have the option of continuing their studies to a bachelor’s degree level at Otago University, the International College of Management Sydney – Australia or Cesar Ritz – Switzerland.

Hospitality Management students also have the option of completing year two of the programme on our campus in Queenstown.

Graduates of the Certificate in Tourism Operations and Hospitality Operations are able to progress on to further study   and gain entry into QRC’s Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 6) or Adventure Tourism Management (Level 6).

QRC Tai Tokerau Resort college is the sister campus to QRC Queenstown and hospitality management students have the ability to complete part of their studies.

QRC Tai Tokerau Resort College Halls of Residence offers whanau-style accommodation for QRC students studying Hospitality Management or Cookery.

Located a 5 min walk from the centre of Paihia, the Halls of Residence offers fully equipped twin-share rooms.

The lodge is fully catered offering 3 meals a day, 7 days per week and our friendly Lodge Managers are onsite to provide support and pastoral care whenever needed.
