Meet Student Ambassador - Hillian Cheung

Hillian is from HongKong and is studying at Whangarei Girls’ High School while living with a host family in Whangarei. She is one of our 2020 Study Northland Student Ambassadors.

What made you choose Northland?

As Northland have less earthquakes than South Island, and also it’s easier to come.

What do you love most about studying at school in New Zealand?

I think is the environment and the people because here have a relaxing environment to study, and my classmates are friendly.

What are your favourite experiences in Northland so far?

We went to the bay of island and have night kayaking, and the stars are bright, it is my favorite time to enjoy the peaceful in the sea.

What is like living with a homestay family?

They just like my new parents in nz, they will care my feeling and teach me how to do school works. Moreover, we can share our different culture, it is a good experience.

What are your interests, sports and hobbies?

I love running and swimming even though I’m not good at it. Also, I love cooking with my friends and parents too, I enjoy it so much.

2022 Update on Hillian

Hillian has stayed in Whangarei after graduating from high school and is attending NorthTec planning to start a Bachelor of Nursing in 2023.
