Meet Student Ambassador: Wakana Main

Wakana, our newest student ambassador is from Japan and lives with a homestay family in Whangarei. She is a year 12 at Whangarei Girls’ High School.  We asked her about what it’s like living in Northland.

What made you choose Northland?

My friend lived in Northland and I thought it was good to go somewhere where there are known people. Also I didn’t know much about Northland so I wanted to know Northland.

What do you love most about studying at school in New Zealand?

I love how we can choose the subject that we want to study. Also I like it because we can meet a lot of students from different countries and become friends!

What are your favourite experiences in Northland?

I haven’t been to many places yet so I don’t know but I will find my favourite place through being a student ambassador!

What is like living with a homestay family?

I like it very much. They are very nice and I get to have cute little sisters 🙂

What are your interests, sports  and hobbies?

I like playing the guitar but I’ve only started so I’m not really good at it…

What is your favourite local place to hang out with friends?

Town basin cafes.
