Meet Student Ambassador - Palak Badoni

We talked to student ambassador and Whangārei Girls’ High School student, Palak Badoni about what she likes best about living and studying in Northland. Palak moved to New Zealand from India just over 2 years ago.

Palak has recently completed the AFS Global Competence Certificate Online Program…

What made you choose northland?

I chose Northland because Whangarei is a very cool place in nz. They have beautiful beaches here and people are super nice and I was welcomed in with open arms and people were very  understanding that my English is pretty bad.

What do you love most about studying at school in nz?

One thing I love about school in NZ is that there is Te Reo Maori and the teachers are putting effort at using it in the classroom. I like how there is a big diversity and I have a lot of friends from all over the world.

What are your favourite experiences in Northland?

My favourite experiences in Northland are the beautiful scenery and going to all the different beaches and the eco-friendly environment in Northland.

Tell us about your family.

I live here in Whangarei with my family and it’s very convenient that I get to speak my native language at home as it helps me to keep my connection to my culture alive.

What are your interests, sports and hobbies?

My interests are learning new languages, badminton and writing.

What is your favourite local place to hang out with friends?

My favourite local place to hang out with my friends is in Whangarei CBD and my place.
